ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY

Renewable Energy

Pending on further investigations and suitability of the location, solar energy and wind generated energy harvesting measures are to be implemented into the development. The energy harvested from these devices shall be supplemented to our on-site generators, and in turn supplement the mains power grid. There is a global race to explore hydrogen energy technology as a clean energy source whereby this development is looking towards to implement, as such discussions are underway Direct solar powered general landscaping and street landscaping lighting are also considered.

Overflow Drainage

The overland flow stormwater drainage systems proposed onsite shall be integrated into the landscape. The natural elements shall provide natural filtration of impurities on its journey prior to discharging.

Environment Clean - Up

The cleaning and dredging of the debris, silt, and mud in the rivers and coast shall allow for a better flow of river and sea. It shall promote cleaner water environment leading to new fish species. The use of the immediate waterways for non-fishing activities shall allow the fish and sea life to grow and flourish.

Eco and Organic Farming

Permaculture, aquaponics, and hydroponics are considered as a means of recycling for organic farming of seafood and farm produce. These products can then be supplemented for the development and perhaps lead to workshops and tours to encourage expansions to local areas.

Recycling

Existing vegetation and trees on the existing site shall be integrated in the proposed landscaping and replanted to its new locations.

A proportion of the existing mangrove shall be retained and integrated into the design. Walkways and board walks are designed to meander in and out of the mangrove areas to create interesting nature walks simultaneously educating the visitors and public.

Promotion of Green Space

Expanse of open green land and native re-generation areas are designated in the proposal.

Eco Resorts

Eco resorts are incorporated within the development. These resorts shall consider the principles of eco living within a manageable balance between the two to be investigated.

Sustainability

The proposed ferry service used for transportation to the airports, Suva City and other locations shall take the pressure off the existing road network.

Building Design

Building design shall explore the use of living facade systems.

SMART CITY OF THE FUTURE

The development proposes a well-designed resort development complex like Denarau with ancillary supporting network of developments such as houses and apartments, marina, shopping centre, sports fields, police post, cultural centre, parks, and civic spaces and more, to add to the vibrant atmosphere.

The proposal aims to provide greater accessibility to recreational activities such as boating and water sports, and deep-sea fishing charters, a good picnic entertainment area within a reasonable distance to the capital City.

The shopping centre, and the service station (an appropriate site location is yet to be finalised) will benefit the surrounding communities. The police post shall provide a presence, discourage undesirable behaviour and crime. Further benefits to the community, through job creation and social interaction. It will foster a better understand by the promotion of cross culture, social economic mix, and living environments.

Emerald Bay is focusing on smart City principles in view of a city of the future and environmental sustainability. Our approach is to identify the smart city solutions that are best suited at the present time and what can be implemented in the future. As technology advances, future planning of the implementation of these technologies are being considered. The project is continually evolving, and the developers are in discussions with various likeminded organisations researching these possibilities.

As part of our smart city approach, we are focusing on sustainability and the use of renewable energy re-sources, in addition to other means of sustainability and environment considerations discussed in this development proposal.

Our design is focused on a well laid out plan with a balance of open spaces and green spaces. Sports, parklands, walking and cycling tracks including recreational facilities, shall promote outdoor activities for a healthy lifestyle. These attributes shall also encourage the use of foot traffic over the use of vehicles.

Direct solar lighting systems shall be considered for street and landscape lighting.

The multitude of the various precincts shall provide for the daily needs of occupants within the site including entertainment and recreational opportunities, thus minimising the need for excessive travelling.

An aquaponics seafood and organic garden produce farming system promoting sustainability and healthy alternative shall cater for the needs of the development as well as external consumers and will also become a source of income for many.

Various methods are explored for an economical building system, that will offer swift, simple, and effective construction, such as repetitive modular systems. Appropriate technology implemented in the building design to assist the reduction of wasted energy and construction time.

Artificial lighting can be operated on a motion sensor and timer-based solution. The use of artificial light to be reduced by allowing more natural light through the use of appropriate products and design within the deeper recess of building spaces.

Use of automation systems within the building fabric and occupant use is explored for supplementing energy production and savings and economical operations once building is in use.

The viability of wall gardens or living wall systems are explored in multiple storey buildings for environmental improvements, small scale gardening opportunities, innovative design and appearance.

Recycling and re-use of waste such as sewerage systems and household waste, are explored for the following possibilities to convert to fuel or grey water or fertilizer/feed and mulch for garden and landscape use. Solar, wind, and wave technologies for harnessing energy are considered, including the possibility of hydrogen energy harnessing technology.

The development shall be reasonably self-sufficient and economically sustainable. Both parcels of land are fully owned by the proponent and all approvals are in place for commencement. Ownership and approval documents shall be made available upon request.
